Concrete Cloth: An Innovative Versatile Construction Material by Bharat Bhushan Jindal in Trends in Civil Engineering and its Architecture in Lupine Publishers

Concrete as a construction material is recognized globally but the inquest to improve its flexibility has always attracted the attention of researchers. The increasing cost of repair work due to weathering actions, ground surface damage, see page in water canals always remained a concern. This paper focuses on to explore the manufacturing process as well as the use of Concrete canvas or Concrete cloth in the construction sector. It's being a ceramic material; Concrete Canvas may find its tremendous scope in the construction sector as a fire resistance and waterproofing material.

Improving Tectonic Geomorphology Analysis and Interpretation of River Mobility Utilizing LiDAR-derived DEMs by Saied Pirasteh  in Trends in Civil Engineering and its Architecture in Lupine Publishers

This study contributed a reliability of Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) techniques to investigate tectonic geomorphology analysis of river mobility with high resolution Digital Elevation Models (DEMs). This study interpreted the impact of tectonic geomorphology on landslides occurrence in a rugged topography. In this study, river responses were investigated by using an integration of LiDAR, geomorphology, and a field survey to determine the tectonic geomorphology signatures. The study reveals that the Zagros Folded Belt (ZFB) of Iran with the rugged topography and vegetated area is susceptible to landslides associated with the Dez River in north of Khuzestan Province wherein the Khuzestan Plains the river systems were found to be mobile and able to respond, both laterally and vertically, to the active tectonics.

Application of Preplaced Aggregate Concrete to Convert the Ballasted Railway Tracks into Slab Tracks by Milad Hosein Esfahani in Trends in Civil Engineering and its Architecture in Lupine Publishers

One of the most critical restrictions of ballasted railway tracks maintenance is the ballast undercutting and sieving over the railway bridges and tunnels. In recent years with respect to the development of in-place concrete slab track construction, using preplaced aggregate concrete technology is known as a new method to convert the ballasted railway tracks into slab track. Since no detail has been published regarding to design and construction of such systems by various railway owners, so the present study is allocated to this issue. In this matter, firstly some accomplished projects using this system has been reviewed and secondly, the detail evaluation of preplaced ballast concrete performance has been investigated in lab environment. In this former stage, by using the developed laboratory-scaled facilities, many cylindrical specimens have been constructed and tested. Consequently, their flow time and related compressive and splitting tensile strengths have been presented and the optimum injected mortar mix design have been reported.

FRP-Retrofitting RC Bridges for Stabilization in Earthquakes by Kenneth C Crawford in Trends in Civil Engineering and its Architecture in Lupine Publishers

The purpose of this abbreviated paper is to analyze the applicability of FRP (fiber-reinforced polymer)-strengthening systems for retrofitting RC (reinforced-concrete) highway bridges to stabilize structural members under earthquake conditions. Three earthquakes in California, with multiple bridge failures, drove the requirement to improve bridge design and methods of structurally upgrading critical bridge components to withstand impacts of earth tremors. Retrofitting RC bridges by encasing and strengthening bridge bents with FRP-systems provides an effective method of mitigating the impacts of earthquake loading. This analysis considers types of retrofitting applications on bridge bents and the advantages of FRP systems to increase structural member axial capacity and ductility in columns and beams.
